Our trucks are usually a late model Hino, Isuzu or Mitsubishi with a GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) of roughly 8 tons. When you add our 16 cubic yard boxes and the hydraulic system that is required to dump the box, what we have left is approximately a 2.5 ton payload capacity. Consequently we have to limit the weight that we load onto the trucks or else we get into trouble with the D.O.T. (Department of Transportation). This is why we can only fill up our trucks 1/3 of the way up when the material being loaded is dirt, sand, rocks, concrete or any other heavy material.
